Description
Hamilton City have just released free WiFi in the CBD. What they wanted built was a portal site to all the city’s events, attractions, shopping and dining that visitors would be sent to when they first logged on to the network.
My Role
I built the site using ExpressionEngine, however I also had to write custom PHP as the data for events, shopping and dining are housed in external systems. Events, for instance, needed to call a SOAP service, whereas dining and shopping are direct MySQL connections.
I also had a bit of fun with the Google Maps API, plotting various useful landmarks (parking, transport and medical centres, etc.) with custom icons and info windows.
